Respect

Mantero follows the 17 “Agenda 2030” Sustainable Development objectives – a people, planet
and prosperity action programme signed by the governments of the 193 UN member countries in September 2015.
To achieve sustainable development, it is essential to harmonise three key elements – economic growth,
social inclusion and environmental protection.
Mantero's sustainability activities and projects are inspired by these objectives.
What have we done so far?
- We provided opportunities for training, growth and mobility within the company
- We adopted maximum transparency, fairness and reliability criteria for our employees, suppliers, customers, external bodies and local communities
- We promoted equal opportunities and have established gender equality as one of our most important values
- We implemented our Code of Ethics values and are free from any discrimination based on ethnic-racial, sexual orientation, religion, politics, personal or social conditions
- We implemented our Code of Ethics values working in good faith and honesty, in the fight against corruption, fraud and illegality
- We included political migrants through a collaboration project with the “Promoting Refugees Integration” Association which is linked to UNHCR
- The 2018 bonus for employees linked to the new corporate collective bonus system is based on tangible objectives and is convertible into welfare goods or services.

In addition
- We received an award from the UNHCR (The UN Refugee Agency) for our involvement in the "Welcome Working for Refugee Integration" project;
- We are mapping and selecting suppliers based on the traceability and transparency of the products and services supplied. We are also assessing the adoption of shared security and social responsibility solutions;
- We have replaced the OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series) certification with the new ISO 45001 which, alongside the other ISO standards, provides a valid worldwide worker health and safety management system regulation;
- SA8000 Social Responsibility certification has been acquired. This is an international standard aimed at certifying certain aspects of corporate management for corporate social responsibility, such as:
- respect for human rights;
- respect for workers' rights;
- protection against the exploitation of minors;
- guarantees of safety and health at work

On the environmental level, Mantero is working on many fronts:
- Mantero has implemented the Chemical Management 4sustainability® protocol for eliminating toxic and harmful substances in production through the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals - ZDHC MRSL. Mantero is calling on its suppliers to follow suit to guarantee the entire supply chain.
- A project of Printing with metal free dyes has been implemented
- A system of electronic archiving of tax documents has been adopted to save paper in printing documents for the archive
- In the compressed air and steam system, work was completed to reduce dispersion and partially recover condensates

- A 972,38kW photovoltaic energy production plant has been installed.
- A new fabric steaming system has been purchased. Its technology requires less steam per unit of fabric treated
- An LED lighting system has been installed, which has led to a saving in electricity consumption of around 65 per cent since installation
- A measurement system has been installed to monitor the gas, energy and steam consumption connected to the processing areas
- ISO 14001 environmental certification is obtained. This certifies compliance with the environmental management standard (EMS)
- Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certification is obtained for the weaving and printing of silk and cotton fabrics. This is the most important standard for the sustainable production of clothing and textiles made from natural fibres from organic farming.
- We have obtained the Recycled Claim Standard (RCS) certification. This is an internationally recognised certification which guarantees that materials can be traced throughout the production chain. It ensures that recycled textiles are properly identified and not confused or replaced with other material.
- We have built new equipment in our central heating plant to protect the environment and natural resources, combat climate change and boost the circular economy. The new generator makes it possible to recover heat and use it to heat the water during the washing processes. This saves methane and reduces CO2 emissions.
