Who was Ken Scott? Without a doubt, Ken Scott was a citizen of the world: American by birth, Italian by adoption - eclectic and funny but, most of all, a free spirit, and a great innovator. Scott had a strong personality and brought a feast of colour to the world of fashion. Scott was an all-round artist who expressed the art of living and living by smiling. Everything he created was a piece of happiness and freedom. Flowers were one of his main inspirations and gardens his passion. Scott’s incredible career was as a Designer/Gardener or Fashion/Gardener.
His designs possessed a secret of spontaneity and timeless freshness. To celebrate the centenary of his birth, Mantero has selected ten motifs which represent the artist's inexhaustible imagination that gave life to scarves and stoles.
These will be a limited series of 100 pieces faithfully reproduced on silk twill and silk gauze, wool and cashmere.
The motifs chosen for this Ken Scott Collection are mostly from the 1970s and are taken from his wonderful archive. Ken Scott is timeless and immortal, like every great artist, but he was an interpreter of his time.
The Pop culture influence of many of his creations is clear. Joyful drawings have colour as their focus and explode with enchanting tones combined with courage for genuinely surprising results.
Ken Scott was a unique way-shower for young, cheerful fashion. He realised that colours and flowers always make women and their lives beautiful.
