COLLECTION

Fall/Winter 2020

WHO DARES WINS
London, late 1960s: not far from Parisian couturiers and Italian tailoring ateliers, fashion was in ferment. London during those exceptional years, the "non-regulation" rule was in force. Strong, free, aware, eccentric, and often transgressive women, created new femininity. London was the cradle of a new wave and saw the foundation of Biba boutique: the shop was furnished like a small bazaar of wonders, with a unique and captivating atmosphere which mixed Art Nouveau and Rock & Roll decadence with glam influences and oriental touches. This style, capable of sublimely combining prints with optical and calibrated colours, using fabrics in an unusual way, was the inspiration for the Mantero 1902 Collection, with its boho-chic style which is profoundly tied to Biba and its legend. The collection includes sophisticated fabrics including silk twill, crêpe de chine, soft and fluid velvets, jacquard silks with lurex glow, and the innovative and unavoidable sustainable Resilk. Refined details that emerge from the apparent simplicity - covered buttons, fringes, feathers, embroidery. French and Italian prints, many of which date from the end of the 19th or beginning of the 20th century, skilfully used colours, whimsical combinations of models which can be matched or worn alone and give immediate originality to the simplicity of their lines.
